Restricted Dog Breeds in Victoria

The Domestic Animals Amendment (Restricted Breed Dogs) Bill 2017 has been introduced to parliament.

This Bill has been introduced to:

  • Allow the registration of restricted breed dogs in Victoria
  • Clarify the dangerous dog status of guard dogs when retired to residential premises
  • Increase the payments for registered dogs and cats made by Councils to the Treasurer under section 69(1)(a) and (aa) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994.

Codes of Practice Dog Training Establishments Victoria

Introduction
This Code of Practice is made under the provisions of Section 59 of Division 4 of the Domestic Animals Act 1994(“the Act”).

The purpose of the Code is to specify the minimum standards of accommodation, management and care which are appropriate to the physical and behavioural needs of dogs being trained in dog training establishments.

The Code and its provisions are to be observed by all proprietors of dog training establishments, including those establishments that conduct training at the residence of a client, and by people who work in them. All dog training establishments must comply with State and Local Government legislation and permits. More info @ Agriculture Victoria
